CAPABILITIES - CONCRETE REPAIR AND PROTECTION

Concrete repair is a complex process, presenting unique challenges that differ from those associated with new construction. The repair process must successfully integrate new materials with the old structure, forming a composite system capable of enduring exposure to service loads, environment and time. Typical concrete repair scenarios which NCS provide solutions for include treatments for crack repair, spalling repair and surface reinstatement, utilising the Xypex range of crystalline materials.

Treatment with Xypex materials will ensure the concrete and reinforcing steel remains protected from deterioration and oxidation, and any future concrete spalling.

CAPABILITIES - STRUCTURAL STRENGTHENING

Each structure requiring upgrade and strengthening presents a unique challenge. The need for strengthening may arise from deterioration, change in use, change in building code, structural defects, construction errors, or seismic conditions. Whether strengthening parking garages, buildings, industrial structures, bridges or other infrastructure, NCS is capable of providing the most suitable product and repair solution.

The structural strengthening capabilities of NCS extend to externally bonded Fibre Reinforced Polymer (FRP) products - thin laminates that significantly increase a structures load bearing capacity. NCS is able to apply a wide range of FRP wraps and laminate strips to a variety of structures requiring strengthening.

The use of crack injection resins in repairing structural cracks within concrete or masonry is well established as an effective and economic repair technique.
Crack injection systems have been specifically developed to:

• Make structural repairs that will restore (and under many circumstances improve) the concrete, brickwork or stonework to its original strength and condition.
• Eliminate further damage that is likely to be caused by the passage or leakage of water
• Effectively repair concrete and brickwork without leaving unsightly surface mark

WASTE WATER TREATMENT / SEWERAGE ACCESS CHAMBERS

Concrete pipes and structures are an integral part of all sewerage systems. However,they are susceptible to corrosion which, if not addressed, can ultimately lead to a failure of the system. Concrete access/inspection chambers are some of the assets where corrosion can occur, however it has also been observed within concrete pipes, sewerage pumping stations and sewerage treatment plants.

These assets represent considerable financial investment by asset owners and need to be well maintained to obtain maximum operational life. The destructive microbes present in concrete sewerage/inspection chambers require special coatings and knowledge of how microbiologically induced corrosion occurs.

Utilising a unique repair system, NCS has been involved in the repair and rehabilitation of numerous manholes affected by hydrogen sulphides and sulphuric acid.
